Altrincham is one of our closest patches — we are based just over in Wythenshawe, so it is a short run and we can usually offer a choice of times rather than whatever is left in the week.
The town’s chimneys fall into three broad types, and they need different things. Bowdon and the older parts of Hale have large Victorian and Edwardian houses with multiple unlined flues, tall stacks and wide throats. The interwar semis that make up much of Timperley, Broadheath and West Timperley have simpler single flues, but a great many have been reopened after decades of being blocked off.
And around the town centre and the newer developments there are stoves fitted into lined or twin wall systems, which sweep quickly but need doing more often than owners tend to expect.
