Cheshire keeps a sweep busier than most counties. It has a high proportion of period property, a lot of rural housing off mains gas, and more solid fuel appliances in daily use than the Greater Manchester suburbs we also cover.
Broadly, the work here splits three ways. The wealthier villages — Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Prestbury — have large Victorian and Edwardian houses with tall stacks serving several unlined flues. The market towns like Knutsford mix period centres with newer estates, and there is a good deal of listed and conservation-area property where what you can fit to a stack is restricted.
And out in the rural parts around Mobberley, Chelford and Great Warford there are farmhouses and cottages burning wood as a primary heat source, often with oil or biomass alongside. That last group is where sweeping frequency matters most — if a woodburner is your main heat rather than an evening luxury, twice a season is the minimum.
